Abu-Ghazaleh to address students at Shenyang Normal University graduation ceremony and visit TAG-Org Shanghai office

SHANGHAI --- June 21, 2009 --- Mr. Talal Abu-Ghazaleh, Chairman and CEO of Talal Abu-Ghazaleh Organization (TAG-Org) and Chairman of the United Nations Global Alliance for ICT and Development (GAID), commenced his visit to China today.

The visit highlights and intensifies the cooperation between TAG-Org and the Chinese governmental entities following the launch of Talal Abu-Ghazaleh Confucius Institute (TAG-Confucius) and the Chinese visa applications center in Amman, Jordan.

Mr. Abu-Ghazaleh will be delivering the commencement statement at the graduation ceremony of more than 7000 students at the Shenyang Normal University, which is designated by China?s Ministry of Education as a key university supporting the Chinese language teaching and is among the first universities in China to have established overseas Confucius Institutes.

In his statement, Mr. Abu-Ghazaleh will highlight numerous issues including such as the risks to peace and security, working on a new world order, oil crash, the economic crisis and innovation. In addition to calling upon China to play a leading role in the Afro-Asian Knowledge-based Society Initiative, establish a SINO-ARAB trade in services board, and urging China at the same time to join him in the leadership of the UN GAID.

Mr. Abu-Ghazaleh will reveal plans set by TAG-Org to open several TAG-Confucius Institutes in the Arab world which will offer Chinese language courses for non-native speakers, while hosting researchers and language instructors from China for this purpose, in addition to offering lectures and workshops for businesspeople and governmental sector representatives, aiming to enhance cultural knowledge and exchange.

Mr. Abu-Ghazaleh will be also visiting TAG-Org Shanghai Office which was established to provide its services to Arab and Chinese enterprises.

It is worth noting that the first TAG-Confucius Institute was inaugurated last April, under the patronage of HE Dr. Sabri Irbeihat, Jordan?s Minister of Culture. The inauguration ceremony was attended by the Ambassador of the People?s Republic of China to Jordan Mr. Yuhang Yang, Professor Zhao Dayu, President of Shenyang Normal University and a number of distinctive scholarly leaders, university presidents, deans and professors, in addition to state officials, businesspeople and diplomats.
