Khan Tackles UN?s Role in Development at TAG-Business Forum

Khan to discuss in details the important role played by the UN?s various agencies in coordinating emergency relief efforts across the globe

AMMAN --- June 15, 2009 --- Mr. Sarbuland Khan, executive coordinator of the Global Alliance for Information and Communication Technology (ICT) and Development, will discuss today the ?United Nation?s Role in Development? at the Talal Abu-Ghazaleh Business Forum (TAG-Forum) / German-Jordanian University.

Mr. Khan will discuss in details the important role played by the UN?s various agencies in coordinating emergency relief efforts across the globe by working in close collaboration with national governments, non-governmental organizations (NGOs) and the private sector.

High-ranking officials from the UN organizations, Charity institutions; in addition to media representatives will be attending the event.

Among his twenty-four years of professional experience within the United Nations, he had served as the Branch Chief for the Policy Coordination and Interagency Affairs, Chief for the Office of the Under-Secretary-General of the Department for International Economic and Social Affairs, and Special Assistant to Under-Secretary-General for Political Affairs and Decolonization. From 1979 to 1981, he served as delegate of Pakistan to the General Assembly of ECOSOC.
