CAIRO --- February 28, 2009 --- The Afro-Asian Knowledge Based Society Initiative?s Board of Directors has started setting up the necessary mechanisms and programs to implement decisions and recommendations issued in the closing statement of the Initiative Founders? Conference.
H.E. Ambassador Said Kamal, member of the Permanent Secretariat of the Afro-Asian Peoples? Solidarity Organization (AAPSO) and the vice chair of the Initiative announced that the Board is carrying out several tasks to accomplish the Initiative?s decisions and recommendations.
?We are currently contacting all the international organizations and institutions to establish consultation partnerships and to set up the Wisemen Council which will include all the leaders who will contribute to the development of the two continents,? Kamal said.
He added that a number of financial and administrative procedures were undertaken to facilitate the work of the Initiative?s Steering and Guidance Committee.
The event, held under the patronage of Dr. Ahmad Nazif, Prime Minister of the Republic of Egypt, was organized by the AAPSO and the Arab Knowledge and Management Society (AKMS) in cooperation with the Talal Abu-Ghazaleh Organization (TAG-Org) in January 2009, with the participation of high-ranking official delegates and experts in the field of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) from both Africa and Asia.
Dr. Nazif expressed his appreciation for the efforts exerted by the Conference?s organizers to serve the peoples of Africa and Asia.
It is worth mentioning that Dr. Nazif received in his office at the conclusion of the Founders? Conference Mr. Talal Abu-Ghazaleh, chairman and CEO of TAG-Org, and Mr. Ahmad Hamrouch, AAPSO president and the Conference?s Steering and Guidance Committee chairman.
