Chinese Government Approves the Establishment of Abu-Ghazaleh Confucius Institute in Amman

The Institute will promote the modern Chinese civilization and language

AMMAN September 18, 2008 ,  Mr. Talal Abu-Ghazaleh, CEO and Chairman of Talal Abu-Ghazaleh Organization (TAG-Org) and Chinese Ambassador in Jordan HE Mr. Gong Xiaosheng signed today an exclusive Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to establish the Talal Abu-Ghazaleh Confucius Institute in Amman.

The Institute, headquartered at the Talal Abu-Ghazaleh Capacity Development Academies (TAG-Academies), aims at promoting the modern Chinese civilization and language.

?I am very pleased to sign this agreement which will enhance our relation with China and open the door for additional channels of coordination,? Abu-Ghazaleh said.

Meanwhile, HE Mr. Xiaosheng expressed his happiness of this cooperation in this field.

?This agreement strengthened the relation between the government and private sector represented by Talal Abu-Ghazaleh Organization,? he said.

The MoU stipulates for the establishment of a specialized center to teach the Chinese language by offering relevant courses.

Under the terms of the Memorandum, the Institute will host Chinese teachers and researchers and will be granting scholarships to students to continue their education and conduct research in China.

Moreover, the MoU states that the Institute shall organize lectures, workshops, seminars targeting both private and public sectors in the field of cultural exchange.
