AMMAN ---- April 15, 2008----- Jordanian officials denied recent allegations brought by the Al-Watan Kuwaiti-based newspaper about confiscating $10 million value counterfeited cancer-related medications in the Palestinian territories bought from Jordan. These accusations have opened the door wide for discussions about counterfeited medicines in the Kingdom.

Ms. Halteh talked to the Jordan Food and Drug Administration (JFDA) to find out the truth about these allegations and the Kingdom?s real efforts to encounter counterfeit drugs which started five years ago by conducting regular raids that target pharmacies around the country.
Ms. Halteh also discussed the role of Jordan Customs Department in preventing such products from entering the country.
