The free-to-air satellite channel is to be launched later this year with exclusive programs to tackle Intellectual Property Rights issues regionally and globally
CAIRO ----- April 15, 2008------ Dedicated to enabling ideas and concepts for exciting new digital world, Mr. Talal Abu-Ghazaleh, Chairman and CEO of Talal Abu-Ghazaleh Organization (TAGorg) was granted an exclusive license by the National Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (NTRA) in Egypt to launch the first Independent Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) Satellite Channel.
The free-to-air satellite channel is to be launched later this year with exclusive programs to tackle Intellectual Property Rights issues regionally and globally.
Abu-Ghazaleh said ?The idea behind establishing a satellite channel dedicated to Intellectual Property Rights is to strengthen awareness in IP issues and give a clearer image on IP situation in the Arab world.
He added, ?The Satellite Channel is a unique project because it will be run by unique specialists in IP and business.?
Abu-Ghazaleh stressed on the importance of IP in developing worldwide economy.
?There is no doubt that IP plays a vital role in lifting the economy of any country and our position as leaders in this field is to continue developing the strategies and methods to protect IPRs,? he said.
The TAG-IPR will be based at the Smart Village in Cairo with offices in most major cities of the world.
The first-of-its-kind channel will broadcast specialized programs in IP, interviews with decision makers and will cover major IP events in addition to major business events around the world.
In 2004, Abu-Ghazaleh launched a one-of-a-kind project, ag-IP-news Agency, the Only Specialized Global Intellectual Property News Agency to move in parallel with the fast-growing and widespread interest in IP domains and to provide users worldwide with a credible source of news and reports in this field.
?The creation of this news agency was motivated by the efforts of the Intellectual Property society to enhance and promote IP awareness around the world and in the Arab countries. It was considered the first step towards establishing the specialized Satellite Channel, TAG-IPR,? Abu-Ghazaleh stated.
TAGorgs commitment to the protection of Intellectual Property comes from its belief in the importance of Intellectual Property Rights (IPRs) and their role in creating a dynamic, innovative business environment that will contribute to sustainable economic progress and development.
The Agency has quickly gained support from major IP organizations, such as the World Intellectual Property Organization, the European Patent Office (EPO), the International Trademark Association, and distinguished international law firms.
?The new satellite channel, reporting in both Arabic and English, will be a credible source of information that satisfies the growing interest in issues relating to IP. It will also contribute to the promotion of IP awareness in the region and around the world.? He said.
