The vision behind Oracle Academy is to draw on Oracle?s vast array of human talent and technology innovations for the benefit of the country?s emerging generation of developers and IT management
AMMAN ------ December 8, 2007 ------ The German-Jordanian University (GJU), in cooperation with Oracle Middle East & Africa, announced today the launch of Oracle Academy at Talal Abu-Ghazaleh College of Business (TAGCB)
The announcement comes as a reflection of GJU?s commitment to the region?s education sector and the effort to develop technical skills, bridge the gap amongst the requirements at the local market and increase the professional skills of students in the information technology (IT) sector.
According to the agreement signed between GJU and Oracle, the vision behind Oracle Academy is to draw on Oracle?s vast array of human talent and technology innovations for the benefit of the country?s emerging generation of developers and IT management.
?Through Oracle Academy, the University will develop modern and practical ICT and business related educational programs that are compatible with international standards and competitive with the increasing demands of the regional market and business sector requirements in the global marketplace,? said Professor Labib Khadra, president of the German-Jordanian University.
Meanwhile, Mr. Talal Abu-Ghazaleh, TAGCB president, chairman and CEO of the Talal Abu-Ghazaleh Organization (TAGorg) stated: ?It is time to consolidate efforts and better understand ICT development needs and take full advantage of ICT technologies and programs through cooperation and partnership frameworks that enhance educational outcomes and stimulate innovation."
"TAGCB graduates are equipped with new tools and values, not only to distinguish them on the international level but also to help them contribute to the development of our societies and the competitiveness of our business corporations,? he added.
Graduate students enrolled at TAGCB will benefit from the Oracle Academy programs, especially ERP applications of Oracle Financials. Special professional diploma programs have been designed on a framework of block certification in Oracle Technologies to meet the requirement of the local and Arab markets.
Students enrolled will be prepared for a variety of business and management roles in industries such as: Retail, Finance, Manufacturing, Healthcare and Telecommunications. One of the key benefits for students, fresh graduates, and the community is to get prepared for industry-leading certification from Oracle in a professional diploma program. Certifications include Oracle database, DB administration, and Oracle financials. That certification can go a long way in helping them stand above the crowd when marketing themselves to potential employers and future professional advancement.
?It is crucial to Oracle and its regional operations that, as this territory grows in importance, there is a means through which we can understand what organizations here really need. Through our close relationship with many education institutions in the region, we have realized the great demand for ICT capacity building and tools needed to enhance local skills and expertise,? Mr. Abdul Rahman Al Thehaiban, vice president, Oracle Middle East & Africa said.
?Oracle is dedicated to contributing to the growth of the regional economy. We want to be full partners with the education, governments and businesses of the region, and demonstrate our positive corporate citizenship by playing a role in the success story that is the Middle East,? added Al Thehaiban.
Oracle technologies and learning material are integrated into the curricula of the School of Informatics and Computing, in an effort to prepare students for technical jobs such as: Software Development, Data Base Administration, Systems Designs, Business Analysis and Applications implementations.
