The Societys participation ensures the Arab business sector is effectively represented during the reissuing of the specifications
AMMAN --- June 10, 2007 --- The Arab Knowledge and Management Society (AKMS) is participating in the meetings of the International Organization for Standardization (ISO), in particularly the meetings of the second sub-committee of the Organizations Technical Committee No. 176 that are being held June 10-16, 2007 in Helsinki, Finland.
More than 120 qualified experts from 45 countries and international professional organizations are attending the event upon the invitation of the Finnish Specifications Society. Executive Director of Abu-Ghazaleh Consulting Co, Engineer Khalid Abu-Osbeh, represents AKMS in these meetings.
Participants are tackling very important matters related to the issuance of the new ISO Specifications Nos. 9001 and 9004 in addition to the reviewing and amending of the present specifications to be issued once again early 2009. Moreover, the meetings will be discussing the credibility of ISO Certificate 9001: 2000 and its compliance with the fundamental purpose thereof.
Many recommendations are expected to be reached that should be applied by the concerned authorities, who grant ISO certificates, and companies who obtained or wish to obtain such certificates. Such recommendations will raise the level of credibility of ISO compliance Certificate 9001: 2000.
The Societys participation ensures the Arab business sector is effectively represented during the reissuing of the specifications and guarantees that they will be applied by Arab institutions at the same time they are implemented by international ones.
More than 800,000 companies in different countries of the world have obtained the ISO Certificate 9001: 2000, about 5500 out of which are Arab companies; this makes it the most important specification globally. After the meetings, the future of this specification will be determined along with the procedures that have to be taken to maintain this certificate which they have already obtained.
The next meetings of the ISO Technical Committee No. 176 will be hosted by the State of Qatar in 2008, while the United Arab Emirates (UAE) will host the ISO General Meeting which shall be held for the first time in the Arab region.
