AMMAN January 9, 2007, The Arab Certified Intellectual Property Practitioner (ACIPP) High Examination Council announced on Monday the official launch of ACIPP program in the Arab region during a meeting held at the premises of Talal Abu-Ghazaleh College of Business/ German-Jordanian University (TAGCB/GJU).

The meeting, chaired by Talal Abu-Ghazaleh, Head of the Arab Society for Intellectual Property (ASIP), highlighted the various phases of the ACIPP program since it was launched last year. In addition, the Council members praised the achievements accomplished in this short span of time, and discussed the work plan for the year 2007.

During the meeting, members focused on the cooperation between the Society and the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) concerning the accreditation of ACIPP program by the Organization.

The Council stressed the necessity to expand the program to reach the largest number of sectors interested in the IP particularly law graduates from Arab universities in order to build a generation fully aware of the significance of Intellectual Property Rights (IPRs) in the economic sector in the Arab countries.

In 2007, WIPO in cooperation with ASIP will be organizing four intensive training courses in four Arab countries. These courses will include the following topics; Introduction to Intellectual Property (IP), Trademarks, Unfair Competition, Patents, Trade Secrets, Copyrights and Related Rights.

ACIPP is a professional Arabic program offering advanced teaching and training for the Arab practitioner.  It aims at providing an easier understanding of modern principles that govern IP and access to knowledge and international developments, so that the practitioner may be able to provide his/her services in line with world standards.

Candidates who successfully pass the courses of the ACIPP program are granted the Arab Certified Intellectual Property Practitioner (ACIPP) Certificate. Furthermore, they receive an “Attendance Certificate” upon finishing each course provided that they attend 75% of the lectures.
