Al-Adwan: TAG-Knowledge is a new culture to university students and the community
December 30, 2009 - Dr. Sultan Abu Orabi Al-Adwan, President of Yarmouk University visited the center of Talal Abu-Ghazaleh knowledge Society (TAG-Knowledge) in Amman with the objective to develop knowledge and cultural coordination between the University and Talal Abu-Ghazaleh Organization (TAG-Org).
The guest was received by Mr. Mustafa Nassereddin, International Relations executive director, Mr. Salah Abu Osbeh, executive director of International Partnerships and Mr. Tariq Hamad, TAG-Knowledge executive director, who took the guest on a tour in the center, explaining that this edifice of knowledge which provides academic and knowledge services needed by the students in one stop shop free of charge is consistent with the social corporate responsibility of TAG-Org and its mission to serve the community in Jordan and the Arab world.
Dr. Al-Adwan commended this initiative and described it as a new culture for university students and the society at large; and agreed in principle to establishing a third branch of the TAG-Knowledge on campus, noting that the University was going to open others branches in Bahrain and Abu Dhabi.
He also briefed those present on the graduate programs offered by the University, particularly the Masters degree in Health Service Administration offered in conjunction with the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland (RCSI) and approved by the Ministry of Higher Education. He added that because the University was aware of the importance of cooperation and partnership, it concluded a number of agreements with universities and academic institutions from all over the world.
On his part, Mr. Mustafa Nassereddin highlighted the importance of developing the education system to prepare students for the labor market, and said that human capital was the true foundation for any project to ensure continuity and success. He also stressed that TAG-Org was ready to cooperate with efforts to support the Arab youth community to develop their skills and their scientific and practical capabilities that help their careers.
Mr. Salah Abu Osbeh shed light on the language programs and courses in TAG-Knowledge, as well as the Chinese language courses offered by the Talal Abu-Ghazaleh Confucius Institute. He hoped that it would be possible to offer Chinese and German language courses at the University of Yarmouk.
At the end of the meeting, the parties agreed to hold another meeting at Yarmouk University to discuss the details of opening a third branch of TAG-Knowledge following the model of the main branch on the University of Jordan Street and the second branch inside the campus of the University of Mutah, as well as developing ways of cooperation, and cultural and knowledge exchange between the two parties.

Yarmouk University was founded in 1976 by a Royal Decree and since then has grown in size and stature to become one of the most prestigious universities not at the level of Jordan, but also at the entire region level. It was the first institution of higher education that adopted innovative approach in institutional management and human resource development, and was striving for excellence in research and teaching in the various areas of arts, literature and social sciences. Although the University is an academic institution funded by the Government, but it enjoys a considerable degree of autonomy and is managed by a Board of Trustees whose members are appointed by a royal decree.
TAG-Knowledge
Is the latest initiative by Mr. Talal Abu-Ghazaleh to perform its corporate social responsibility towards the Jordanian and Arab communities, and to be a hub for promoting intellect and knowledge, developing Arab youth and human resources, and qualifying the largest number of local professionals by providing them with competitive skills through exposure to knowledge and developments in the international community under the direct supervision of TAG-Org experts.
