GENEVA ---June 13, 2010--- Mr. Talal Abu-Ghazaleh, chairman of the United National Global Alliance for ICT and Development (UN-GAID), stressed that development runs faster with ICT, during his speech at the Board of the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) High Level Panel held in Geneva.
"There is one development path undertaken by GAID to fulfill this mission through MDG e-solutions Center which consists of ICT Matrix, computer aided e-MDG mega portal of portals, e-strategic planner and Compendium of Excellence in ICT solutions and virtual consultants," he said.
"This project aims at bringing together the grand collaboration of all stakeholders in one knowledge center which will be launched in March 2011. GAID invites to join: visit our portal, enrich it, populate it and join our consultation process," he added.
According to Mr. Abu-Ghazaleh, the timeline will focus on developing the center and organize seminars pointing out that there are around 10 scheduled events to date.
"GAID is organizing in cooperation with the GCC secretariat a seminar on the project in Riyadh in Saudi Arabia with the participation of six countries," he said.
Mr. Abu-Ghazaleh stated that GAID continues to provide consultations to countries on implementation adding that a summit will be held at the UN headquarters in New York July 26th 2010 for all concerned parties.
Meanwhile, a report will be presented at the High level Meeting on the UN General Assembly in September 2010.
During the meeting, Mr. Abu-Ghazaleh announced that Bahrain welcomes hosting the African MDG e-solutions Regional Center and also announced the launch of the first fully functional news agency specialized in the field of Information and communication technology (ICT) www.tagitnews.com.
