AMMAN-----July 25, 2010------ Known for his passion for music and ultimate support for young talents, Mr. Talal Abu-Ghazaleh, chairman and CEO of Talal Abu-Ghazaleh Organization (TAG-Org) bestowed on young musician Iyad Sughayer the TAG Shield for Young Musician during a piano recital held at the Union Bank Auditorium.
The event was held under the patronage of the British Ambassador to Jordan HE Mr. James Watt and attended by classical music lovers and fans of the young Iyad.
Mr. Abu-Ghazaleh praised the work of young Eyad and called him ?a true and amazing sensation?; ?the choice of music was so perfect that it touched upon our feelings and took us in an extraordinary journey."
Young Iyad performed pieces from Chopin, Mozart, Schumann, Debussy, Khachaturian and Lebanese composer Bechara El Khoury.
A Jordanian pianist of Palestinian origin, Iyad Sughayer was born in Amman in October 1993. At the age of five, he started taking piano lessons at the National Music Conservatory which was chaired by Mr. Abu-Ghazaleh in Amman under the direction of the distinguished pianist, conductor and composer Mr. Mohammad Uthman Sidiq.
In 2009, he was invited to play in the Haydn Festival at the Royal Northern College of Music in Manchester. He has been a finalist in the Manchester Chopin Competition and a semifinalist in the Manchester Concerto Competition.
