Entitled: Asia: Powering the Changing Global Markets
Abu-Ghazaleh Addresses the 4thGlobal Economic Summit in India
We need the ancient cultures of China, India, Arab and others to take the world from pragmatism to righteousness- HE Dr. Talal Abu-Ghazaleh
MUMBAI, India --- September 29, 2014 ---- HE Dr. Talal Abu-Ghazaleh, chairman of Talal Abu-Ghazaleh Organization (TAG-Org) addressed the 4thGlobal Economic Summit held at the World Trade Center in Mumbai, India.
Eminent business leaders, bankers, academicians and technocrats assembled at the three-day Summit to share insights and trends in Asia and its role in powering global markets.
In his keynote speech, Dr. Abu-Ghazaleh highlighted the speed of change as the peculiarity of the moment citing examples of the changes that are transforming the globe.
“By the end of 2014, there will be more mobile phones in the world than people. 90% of the world’s data was created in the last two years. About 1.3 million video views and 30 hours of video uploading take place every 60 seconds. Computer robots will outsmart humans within 15 years,” Dr. Abu-Ghazaleh said stressing that “in this amazing change we need to be at the cutting edge if we are to stay ahead”.
He also expressed his belief that in future wealth will more and more be created through knowledge creation. “We know that wealth is moving globally to the South and to the East and that technology moves only forward – exponentially. Therefore, future giant countries (you know them) will power the global markets.”
However, Dr. Abu-Ghazaleh noted that new rules are needed, saying that “Wagner reminds us in his Die Master Singer that you cannot judge new things by old rules; you need to write new rules for new things. This is how AGIP became the leading IPR firm in the world. We continually harness ICT state-of-the-art innovations in running our business. AGIP is an ICT firm providing IPR services.”
Some of these rules, according to Abu-Ghazaleh, are Internet Governance (he chaired the founding meeting of IGF); From smart looks to smart (ICT); Online Tsunami facing education; From teachers to tech advisors; New trade rules for a digital economy; Trade in knowledge products (Google) –a new mode; Made in the world (not in a country); Rules for the value added chain products; From a pragmatic world to a righteous world; and From Information to Knowledge to Wisdom age.
“We need the ancient cultures of China, India, Arab and others to take the world from pragmatism to righteousness (wisdom age). It is insane to keep doing things the same way expecting different results. It is also insane not to expect all kinds of problems and wars to be waged against you. Trotsky reminds us that even if you are not interested in war, war may be interested in you,” Dr. Abu-Ghazaleh added.
“Finally in my special address, at the closing sessions on MDGs, I will candidly address the problems and propose solutions, building on my roles as chair of UNICTTF and UNGAID and many other related assignments. And I hope to outline briefly how Talal Abu-Ghazaleh Organization (TAG-org), as a leading global provider of professional services and education in 81 offices worldwide (in India this is our 10th anniversary), is pursuing its mission in promoting and achieving the MDGs,” he concluded
The emphasis of the sessions of the Summit was on Manufacturing, Technology, Women Empowerment, Significance of Trade Agreements, Role of Trade Promotion Organizations and Millennium Development Goals among others.
The Summit aims to facilitate B2B meetings and networking opportunities for over 500 delegates from over 30 countries.
