Abu-Ghazaleh at AINAC: We Should Not Wait for the Governments Support to Innovate; Governments are just to Provide Suitable Environment
AMMAN - December 27, 2015 - The 4th Arab Innovation Network Annual Conference (AINAC) was held in Amman under the Patronage of Her Majesty Queen Rania Al Abdullah, and with the presence of Her Majestys representative, the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, HE Dr. Labeeb Alkhadra.
In his speech, HE Dr. Talal Abu-Ghazaleh stressed that we should not wait for the governments support to invent and innovate; governments are just to provide the suitable environment for innovation adding that in Jordan, we enjoy the best environment thanks to the wise Hashemite leadership.
Dr. Abu-Ghazaleh also assured that many countries are ahead of us in the field of scientific research. He noted that the Arab Scientific Research and Education Network (ASREN) that he chairs, in cooperation with the European Union and Talal Abu-Ghazaleh Organization, launched a scientific research network connected to those of the Arab region and Europe. The network is accessible to all researchers wishing to participate in or learn about various scientific researches in the region and in Europe.
He said that scientific research is the way towards knowledge creation, which is based on the information and communication technology. Therefore, it is crucial to emphasize on cognitive researches in this field.
He pointed out the importance of the protection of Intellectual Property in the field of invention and innovation, as it allows its owner to achieve wealth, and opens opportunities for invention and innovation. He added that TAG-Org has the biggest Intellectual Property protection company in the world (AGIP); this is because TAG-Org has chosen to be an IT based organization that is distinctive from other organizations in the world.
On behalf of Her Majesty Queen Rania Al Abdullah, Dr. Labeeb Alkhadra noted that scientific, educational, and research institutions are promoting the integration of innovation in scientific research creation programs.
On the local level, Dr. Alkhadra assured that it is crucial to direct the scientific research system within the various intellectual fields according to the national priorities to solve local problems. He pointed out the importance of the integrated role of the concerned parties and the private sector in creating competitive environment.
During the opening ceremony, many ideas developed by Arab students have been viewed, such as the innovation of a car that has, in addition to its main engine, an additional one placed in the wheels to reduce air resistance. Another innovation was an electric dress that can be worn by autistic children to monitor their condition, movements, and behaviors.
It is worth mentioning that the conference aims at providing opportunities to all Arab students to share their ideas with academics and representatives of major companies in the fields of their innovations. More than 300 persons from 16 Arab countries attended the conference. Attendees were students and representatives of businesses and academic bodies.
