Abu-Ghazaleh Patronizes Jazz Concert for Families in Cooperation with the Oberlin Conservatory of Music
AMMAN - January 31, 2016 - The Jordanian National Orchestra Association (JOrchestra) organized a Jazz concert for families under the patronage of HE Dr. Talal Abu-Ghazaleh; chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Association at Zaha Cultural Center.
The concert was made by a number of talented students of the Oberlin Conservatory of Music and JOrchestra organized in cooperation with Oberlin Conservatoryand with the support of the American Embassy in Amman.
During the ceremony, five students of Oberlin Conservatoryparticipated in playing music, another five players of JOrchestra played beats of Straight No Chaser, Autumn Leaves, Softly as in a Morning Sunrise and So What, in addition to playing the music of Fairouz including Telet Ya Ma Ahla Nourha and Al Helwa De songs.
HM Queen Noor Al-Hussein is the honorary chairperson of the Jordanian National Orchestra Association. Chaired by Dr. Abu-Ghazaleh, the Association’s Board of Trustees consists of a host of ambassadors who highly cherish classic musical heritage and enriched the Orchestra with their technical guidance and the cooperation with their countries, in addition to a number of prominent Jordanian figures who value creativity and art.
As a part of a special project conducted by the Oberlin Conservatory, eight students traveled to Jordan during the semester holiday. They presented performances during their stay in Jordan, they were briefed on the Arabic music from some of the best musicians in Jordan and performed with the Jordanian Orchestra members. Moreover, they taught some Jordanian students Jazz and other forms of American music.
