Abu-Ghazaleh Commends Al-Masri for Patronizing the Launch of Globalization between Human Welfare and Power Control
AMMAN – June 1, 2016 - Under the patronage of HE Dr. Taher Al-Masri, former Prime Minister, the "Globalization Between the Human Welfare and Power Control," a publication by the author Dr. Rajai Jameel, a strategic analyst and researcher was launched during a special ceremony held at the Economic Policy Development Forum (EPDF) at Talal Abu-Ghazaleh University.
HE Dr. Abu-Ghazaleh expressed his gratitude to HE Dr. Al-Masri for patronizing the ceremony and hoped that the book will be the first of a series of other works offering an accurate analysis and description of “Globalization” between the need to keep pace with civilizations and the need of preserving humanity, identity and privacy.
Dr. Abu-Ghazaleh said, "The EPDF is concerned with examining the economic and social conditions, and tracking changes thereon on a regular basis, to come up with well-founded recommendations and suggestions. This prompted us to host this ceremony; in addition to Dr. Jameel, who is actually a member of the Forum, and we are proud of him and of his enlightening publication for the insights, analyses, and vision contained therein, and for the immense effort he has already put into the production of this precise, detailed and valuable scientific research."
Meanwhile, Dr. Al-Masri gave an overview of the book’s topics and thanked Dr. Abu-Ghazaleh for lending his support for this book, and indicated that what we are seeing now in the Arab world is a widespread of superficial concepts for development, which diverge from the core moral values of Islam; stressing that it is our duty to reconsider everything as this is a serious period where conflicts, sectarianism, killings and destruction are uncharacteristically and inhumanely abound.
He also affirmed that it is about time to re-consider and re-examine our societies thoroughly, and to review closed files to regain the courage, which is inherently instilled in us as an Arab nation – one of a profound heritage, history and potential for the future. In addition he indicated that if Arabs do not develop, advance and achieve progress in all fields and in all Arab countries, and start to re-build their renaissance, they shall be marginalized and lag behind on the sidelines of the road.
Dr. Jameel extended his thanks to Dr. Abu-Ghazaleh for giving him the chance to launch the book at the Forum and briefly reviewed some of its content.
He underlined that the book poses many questions, and most particularly about the reason for "global misery" and hardships Arabs are facing since the 80s of the last Century. He added that the book came as an effort from his side in trying to discover the background on the emergence and spreading of globalization, and which school of thought it advocates. He finally uncovered and concluded the fact that it is merely ‘the Western Capitalist Thought’.
He pointed out that the reason the West seeks to globalize itself is it believes it possesses all the tools of modernity and civilization, and that the Western civilization has paved the way and laid the foundation for a political humanistic globalist thought, which uses ideas of philosophers.
He added that we ought to learn from this lesson, "Because if we as an Arab nation ever want to keep up with modernization, we have to create a new humanistic and philosophical thought to advance and progress a few steps forward.” Meanwhile he stressed that globalization has never been a source for human welfare nor for happiness because it seeks to attain and to serve its interests using a variety of ways including the control of others.
During the ceremony, several speakers took the floor including Professor Dr. Yasaar Khasawneh, the legal adviser for the Minister of Culture, who stressed that globalization is only one sword directed towards many necks.
Dr. Abdullah Miqresh, professor of Political Science at the University of Jordan, indicated that we are witnessing and living in a state of international anarchy, whereby a gang can negatively influence international relations.
Meanwhile, Mr. Al-Sharif Bilal Abu Adiyyeh Al-Husseini, Director of Zuhdi Publishers − a publishing house responsible for the book’s distribution− indicated that the book discusses political philosophy, and that it is one of the few books addressing this subject.
