Abu-Ghazaleh Awards Young Mobile Applications Programmers

AMMAN - April 21, 2016 - Under the Honorary Patronage of HE Dr. Talal Abu-Ghazaleh, Chairman of Talal Abu-Ghazaleh Organization (TAG-Org), the Kids Pitching Demo Day crowning event, sponsored by Orange, was held to honor young children programmers for developing innovative mobile applications. 

Dr. Abu-Ghazaleh accompanied by, Ms. Hanan Khader, President of Hello World Kids and by PR, CSR and Corporate Director of Orange Ms. Rana Dababneh presented the young talents with awards for their creative work and innovation in the field of mobile applications programming and software development.

During a panel discussion with HE Senator Haifa Najjar, Mr. Ashraf Nayroukh, Managing Director of eLearment, and Dr. Bashar Hawamdeh, Executive Director of MENA Tech, and Dr. Abu-Ghazaleh stressed on the importance of digital and online education and how incorporating the Arabic language and IT skills is essential to compete worldwide to become “Tech Leaders.”

He added, “By 2020, education will be different and we cannot avoid this. Education is changing fast and there is an overflow of information – similar to that of an ‘avalanche’ or a tsunami’. TAG-Org has already started working in facilitating online and digital learning, including acquiring an online certificate that qualifies entry at university level.”

Dr. Abu-Ghazaleh pointed out, “We support learning in all its forms and the future makes way for virtual classrooms and digital learning− the idea for complete smart schools. We are working on amending the educational programs in Jordan to reduce the gap between education and the market needs.”

During the event, young programmers had the opportunity to present their projects to jury members: HE Ms. Najjar, Mr. Saeed Omar, CEO of StartupNow, and Mr. Hussam Hammo, CEO and founder of Tamatem Inc.

HE Ms. Najjar stressed on how programming and software development courses ought to be introduced at schools, noting, “I work in the best form of investment: to develop children’s minds. It is our duty to support children not only in the programming world, but in all aspects of life.”

Ms. Hanan Khader, President of Hello World Kids, stated that there is an urgent need to re-direct children’s energy from being consumer-oriented to innovative producers.
