Abu-Ghazaleh Tours Homs Governorate and Meets Business Society in Syria

Mr. Abu-Ghazaleh expressed his satisfaction with the investment status in the industrial zone stressing the need for coordination between the four industrial zones in Syria for an ultimate integration of projects and to avoid repetition of similar ventures in these areas

HOMS, Syria -March 18 2010 - Mr. Talal Abu-Ghazaleh, chairman and CEO of Talal Abu-Ghazaleh Organization (TAG-Org), accompanied with a delegation from TAG-Org Damascus office toured several industrial areas in Homs governorate.

Mr. Abu-Ghazaleh, Chairman of the UN Alliance for ICT and Development (GAID), visited different facilities at the industrial zone in Hesyaa which is 40-km away to the south of Homs.

He highly commended the achievements of the industrial zone which is considered an advanced developed industrial complex located on a 2500 hectares area, with 70,000 habitants.

The Zone granted licenses to 700 facilities, 109 out of them have already become operational and productive.

Head of the Industrial Zone Eng. Khalid Izzeddin briefed the delegation on the status of the industrial zones in Syria stating that there are four main industrial zones that host several key projects.

Eng. Izzeddin accompanied Mr. Abu-Ghazaleh and the delegation in a tour to the factories and service facilities in the industrial zone and explained the integrated services system provided through the ?One- Window Shop? to investors.

At the end of the tour, Eng. Izzedin presented Mr. Abu-Ghazaleh the zone?s shield as a recognition of his continuous support for the business sector in the Arab region.

Following the visit, Mr. Abu-Ghazaleh met with members of Homs Chamber of Commerce and Industry at the Chamber?s headquarters where the two parties discussed means of mutual cooperation between TAG-Org and businessmen in the governorate.

In his speech at the Chamber, Mr. Abu-Ghazaleh stated that Homs governorate enjoys significant natural and climate resources which encourage big investment in various fields mainly in wind power generation referring to the economic and environment importance of such investments.
Mr. Abu-Ghazaleh underscored the vital role which TAG-Org can play in providing the fundamental services, assisting in developing such projects, attracting technical specialized companies, providing consultancies, training and capacity building.

In addition, Mr. Abu-Ghazaleh participated in a seminar entitled ?Syria and Arabs in a Global Changing Economy?, during which he tackled the main developments in the world economies and the change in the investments fields illustrating the effects of such developments on the Arab region as a whole and Syria in particular.
