MUSCAT --- April 7, 2009 --- Under the patronage of Mr. Talal Abu-Ghazaleh, chairman and CEO of the Talal Abu-Ghazaleh Organization (TAG-Org), a new phase of the ?Knowledge Society Omanization and Digital Illiteracy Eradication? initiative undertaken by the Arab Omani Institute for Administrative Training, a member of TAG-Org, has been implemented.
The Institute in collaboration with other affiliated centers in various provinces and governorates of the Sultanate of Oman, distributed the first batch of laptops ?of the latest specifications and standards- among the initiative?s trainees who joined the Institute to obtain the Cambridge Information Technology Skills Diploma.
Earlier, the Arab Omani Institute for Administrative Training signed an agreement with the Aali Al-Bihar Co. to provide the Cambridge IT Skills Diploma program?s trainees with high-specification laptops in addition to their basic accessories which are a laptop case, a digital mouse and a 2GB flash drive.
All laptops are guaranteed for one year and they were distributed among the participants for an amount that did not exceed their original cost.
This phase is significant not only because it provides Omani citizens with the necessary IT knowledge, but also because it offers them the needed tools to eliminate illiteracy and spread knowledge.
