ASIP Organizes Introduction to Intellectual Property Course in Dubai

DUBAI – March 14, 2016 - The Arab Society for Intellectual Property (ASIP)/ member of Talal Abu-Ghazaleh Foundation held a training course titled “Introduction to Intellectual Property” in Dubai for employees of Saudi Arabian Airlines and Dubai Customs.

The one-week course presented by Judge Ms. Nihad Husban is a result of  the continuous cooperation between the Society, the Airlines and Dubai Customs in introducing Intellectual Property conecpt..

The Director of the Society Hasiba Shaban said that the Society works, under the directions of its Chairman HE Dr. Talal Abu-Ghazaleh, to raise the level of efficiency of employees in Intellectual Property sectors throughout the Arab world and increase awareness of this vital and important sector.  

The course included introduction to Intellectual Property and differentiating it from material property, sections of Intellectual Property and introduction to industrial and commercial property. Also, a historical introduction to Intellectual Property was presented as well as the key principles and concepts of IP, the economic importance of protecting IP, branches of IP and legal regulation, types of legal protection of literature property and industrial property along with the expressions used in IP.

Arab Society for Intellectual Property:

Arab Society for Intellectual Property was established in Munich/ Germany in 1987 under the name “Arab Society for Protection of Industrial Property” with the objective of developing and enhancing the protection of intellectual property in the Arab world, through improving and updating the intellectual property regulations and governing laws. The Society is concerned in building capabilities and expertise among the specialists and practitioners of intellectual property in addition to enhancing awareness among the public, through using several methods, to achieve its objectives successfully by holding educational programs, conferences, seminars and research and studies projects.
