The Diploma aims at enhancing the computer skills and the use of library and electronic communication programs
KUWAIT --- March 28, 2009 --- The Talal Abu-Ghazaleh Organization (TAG-Org) and the Kuwait University have recently signed a cooperation agreement where the University will be accredited to offer the Cambridge International Diploma for Information Technology Skills (CID-IT) training and exams.
Signing the agreement were Dr. Anwar Alyatama, Kuwait University secretary general and Mr. Talal Abu-Ghazaleh, TAG-Org chairman and CEO.
The CID-IT, recognized by the Cambridge International Examination, University of Cambridge, is an international training program that will be offered by the Centre for Community Services and Continuing Education (CCSCE) at the University. The Diploma aims at enhancing computer skills and the use of library and electronic communication programs.
According to the agreement, students registered in this Diploma are trained on seven different subjects on the use of computer; upon finishing the training, the students will sit for exams under the supervision of accredited specialists from TAG-Org-Kuwait office.
The program, launched since 2001 in the Arab countries, is conducted electronically and the students can register on the Internet database under the direct supervision of the Kuwait University.
From his part, Dr. Ahmad Sami Al Manees, vice president for Academic Support Services at the University said that special halls will be dedicated to carry out the training and examination processes.
?To enroll in the CID-IT program, it is not obligatory for the students to have any background on the computer use since it starts with the basics and progresses to advanced levels,? he added.
The Centre for Community Services and Continuing Education was established in 1976-77 to meet wide-ranging needs of the Kuwaiti society for specialized training, skills and knowledge to enhance their capabilities and competence. The Centre endeavors towards comprehensive development of the society in fulfillment of its mission, addresses problems, caters to public and private sectors clientele, undertakes research, provides consultative services, and presents the image of Kuwaiti society for visiting delegates.
