TAG-Foundation Hosts WINGS Workshop
AMMAN – Talal Abu-Ghazaleh Foundation (TAG-Foundation) co-hosted a meeting for Worldwide Initiatives for Grantmaker Support (WINGS) in partnership with the Foundation Center (FC) and in collaboration with the Arab Foundations Forum (AFF) and The Sheikh Saud bin Saqr Al Qasimi Foundation for Policy Research. The purpose of the meeting was to review the data needs of philanthropy in the Arab region, as well as to test the value of the current draft of the Global Philanthropy Data Charter in light of the emerging strategy and to develop a pathway for delivering a revised and fuller Charter to be launched at the WINGS Forum 2017, which is set to be hosted in Mexico City. The meeting was well attended and included the participation of a great number of data, knowledge, and research experts, as well as representatives of philanthropic foundations and organizations from both local Jordanian and international entities.
The topics for the two-day workshop includedphilanthropy data in the Arab Region, the development of The Global Philanthropy Data Charter (The Global Philanthropy Data Charteris a framework to guide organizations in the sector as they set out to improve philanthropy data), and collecting case studies to present at WINGS Forum exploring how the Data Charter is used as a starting point to collaborate on data and turn issues and challenges into something to be addressed collectively.
The Executive Director of WINGS, Ms. Helena Monteiro, expressed her gratitude to HE Dr. Talal Abu-Ghazaleh, Chairman of Talal Abu-Ghazaleh Organization (TAG-Org), for the success of the workshop through the hosting of TAG-Foundation and in providing the facilities and venue for the workshop. Ms. Monteiro also acknowledged the support and collaboration of the Arab Foundations Forum, the Foundation Center, and the Al Qasimi Foundation for Policy Research.
The Worldwide Initiatives for Grantmaker Support (WINGS) is a global network of grant maker associations and philanthropic support organizations – with almost 100 philanthropy associations and support organizations in 38 countries. WINGS’ purpose is to strengthen, promote and provide leadership on the development of philanthropy and social investment. It works to give voice to many cultures through the exchange of experiences, knowledge, information and expertise.
