TAG Org Congratulates Petra News Agency on Its 40th Anniversary

AMMAN --- July 20, 2009 --- The Talal Abu-Ghazaleh Organization (TAG-Org) on July 19 2009 congratulated Jordan News Agency (Petra) on its 40th anniversary during a ceremony held under the patronage of HE Dr. Nabil Sharif, Jordan?s Minister of State for Media Affairs and Communications.

?It is our pleasure to be part of this celebration due to Petra?s pioneering role on both the Arab and international levels,? said Mr. Talal Abu-Ghazaleh, TAG-Org chairman and CEO.

He also congratulated the News Agency for receiving the King Abdullah II Award for Excellence in Government Performance and Transparency for ?Best Accomplishment? and the Sheikh Salem Al-Ali Al-Sabah Informatics Award for best Arab Media website 2008.

Petra was established through a Royal decree in 1969 as an independent media entity linked to the Ministry of Information.
