Talal Abu-Ghazaleh Chairs The Wireless Services in Iraq Conference

Wirless

Information and communication technology firms from around the world are gathering in London on January 26 and 27, 2005 for the first international Wireless Services in Iraq Conference.  According to industry insiders, this is The event for 2005, to get on the inside track to the booming wireless business in Iraq.   Starting from a base of virtually zero just a year ago, the Iraq wireless phone market is red hot and getting hotter.

Three new consortiums have established regional mobile telephony network under licenses issued last year.

The three networks are expected to have signed on close to 2 million new Iraqi subscribers by the end of 2004.

Later this year the regional networks are expected to get the regulatory authorities’ go ahead to go national, resulting in a competition and rapid development of auxiliary services.

A number of the wireless operators in Iraq have already begun issuing multi-million dollar contracts for services such as wireless instant messages (SMS).

Iraq may be the only country in the Arab world where IP (Internet Protocol) telephony is legal, indicating the dynamic and open-for-business atmosphere in the Iraq telecommunications markets.

The Wireless Services in Iraq Conference is being chaired by, Talal Abu-Ghazaleh. The professional services group, which bears his name, Talal Abu-Ghazaleh Organization (TAGO), operates in every country in the Arab region.

Abu-Ghazaleh has been very active over the last decade in advocating liberalization of Arab service sectors.

The Iraq communications market is likely to quickly represent the most liberal communication services market in the Arab world.

The conference features expert speakers who are actively involved in the Iraq wireless market, including representatives from all sectors including mobile telephone operators in Iraq, satellite operators, analysts, security specialists, etc.

Companies and organisations participating in the conference program:
