AMMAN -November 29, 2008,A delegation of top Chinese officials headed by Vice-Chair of the China Federation of Literary and Art Circles Mr. Dan Zeng visited on Saturday the Talal Abu-Ghazaleh Confucius Institute at the Talal Abu-Ghazaleh Academies? Headquarters in Amman.
Mr. Luay Abu-Ghazaleh, vice-chair of the Talal Abu-Ghazaleh Organization (TAG-Org) discussed the development and future plans of establishing the first Confucius Institute in Jordan.
?I am very pleased with the opening of this Institute. This will enhance our relations with China and open the door for additional channels of coordination,? Mr. Luay Abu-Ghazaleh said.
?This is just a start as we have plans to introduce the Talal Abu-Ghazaleh Confucius Institute in other countries in the region,? he added.
Mr. Dan Zeng expressed his satisfaction with the modern approach adopted by the Talal Abu-Ghazaleh Confucius Institute and its future plans.
?We are very pleased to partner with TAG-Org in opening the first Confucius Institute in the country and they have our unlimited support,? he said.
On May 15, 2008, an exclusive agreement was signed between TAG-Org and the Chinese governmental Shenyang University, for the establishment of the Institute, which was followed by the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on September 18, 2008 between TAG-Org and the Chinese Ambassador in Jordan HE Mr. Gong Xiaosheng.
The Institute will offer Chinese language courses for non-native speakers, while hosting researchers and language instructors from China for this purpose, in addition to offering lectures and workshops for businesspeople and governmental sector representatives, which aim to enhance cultural knowledge and exchange.
The institute will also offer Chinese language courses for schools.
