The CaMaRI Program, InWEnt Germany, and Talal Abu-Ghazaleh Organization conduct a regional workshop

Amman, Jordan - 25 October 2009 - A regional workshop was organized at the Talal Abu-Ghazaleh Academies under the agreement signed between Talal Abu-Ghazaleh Organization (TAGorg), the Capacity Building in Managing for Results and Impact (CaMaRI) and the Regional Center for Rural Reform and Development (CARDNI) and InWEnt Capacity Building International, Germany.


16 professionals representing Jordan, Syria, Palestine, Lebanon and Yemen have participated in the workshop which aimed at building the capacity of participants in the field of institutional organizational development to increase their effectiveness in the field of support and guidance to rural development projects sponsored by the Food and Agriculture Organization (IFAD) in those countries. The workshop sought to select a number of participants for nomination to participate in the training of trainers program that will be held during the next month of November to train them on using methodologies and tools for follow-up and evaluation of IFAD projects through the use of a special tool known as (RIMS). The workshop was conducted by a team of local, Arab, German and British experts over (4) consecutive days.


This workshop comes as part of a series of activities included in the Action Plan for the CaMaRI Program in accordance with the agreement signed with Talal Abu Ghazaleh Organization. This agreement was signed and released at the end of last year, and implemented early this year, and will continue for next two years. The agreement provides for appointing TAGorg as a conductor and provider of training and consultancy services to build capacities for the IFAD Projects in the named five countries through TAGorgs experts working in its offices in those countries on the application of work methodologies and mechanisms to follow up and evaluate IFAD Projects, study their effects on the beneficiaries of these projects at the level of entrepreneurs, the users of such services and the local community, which is known as the Capacity Building in Managing for Results and Impact, from which the name of the program was derived.


Dr. Nedal Al-Jayousi, the General Coordinator of the CaMaRI program expressed his pleasure and satisfaction with the fruitful results of this workshop. He also affirmed his appreciation for the level of participation from Talal Abu-Ghazaleh and the good organization for the event which was hosted at TAG Academies premises in Amman. He confirmed that cooperation with TAGorg will continue to fulfill the requirements of the program in the concerned countries.


On his part, Dr. Bruno Schuler, Senior Project Manager, Rural Development of InWEnt pointed out that the workshop was a success and it has achieved its objectives. He specifically indicated that TAGorgs participation in the workshop had a considerable impact on that success. He said, "InWEnt supervises this project and provide all possible means of support for its success; and is proud of its partnership with TAGorg."


Dr. Qais Al-Khalafat, Executive Director of Talal Abu-Ghazaleh Academies, explained that the present cooperation with CaMaRI, CARDNI and InWEnt is almost a strategic partnership for the implementation of a huge and significant project. He expressed his pleasure for the selection of TAGorg as a partner and provider of services within the scope of the program, and a contributor to the desired results, particularly the accreditation of TAGorg experts as accredited instructors and consultants to implement follow-up and evaluation system for enterprises targeted by the program
