AMMAN - April 14, 2016 - The United Nations Development Program (UNDP) Resident Representative Edward Kallon honored HE Dr. Talal Abu-Ghazaleh, chairman of Talal Abu-Ghazaleh Organization (TAG-Org), in a special ceremony held under the patronage and in the presence of Prime Minister Dr. Abdullah Ensour.

The event was organized by the UNDP to celebrate the 50th Anniversary of founding the Program and the 40th Anniversary of the start of its operations in Jordan.

During the ceremony, appreciation shields were presented to the Jordanian government represented by the Minister of Planning, a number of supporting diplomatic missions’ heads and private sector figures; in recognition of their role in the support of the developmental goals and vision of the Program.

In a press statement, HE Dr. Abu-Ghazaleh stressed his strong interest in the cooperation with various international and local bodies to contribute to the development of the national programs that serve all nation segments.

He also expressed his aspirations to promote and continue the close cooperation with the Program as a partner.

TAG-Org cooperates with the UNDP in several projects, most notably the Public-Private Partnership Council chaired by Dr. Abu-Ghazaleh, and in the fields of capacity building that aim to achieve sustainable development for Jordanian youth and Syrian refugees.

The UNDP started its operations in the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan in 1976 as the body concerned with the development issues in the UN system. Its vision is based on achieving human sustainable development in Jordan. The UNDP is the agency tasked with leading the efforts to eradicate poverty in the UN system. Thus, it plays a crucial role in forming the new global development agenda. The Program plays a primary role in working to insure the implementation of this agenda and its objectives that are known as the “Sustainable Development Goals” or the “Global Goals”.
