Talal Abu-Ghazaleh Knowledge Forum Hosts the Early Grade Reading and Math Project Initiative

 

AMMAN- Talal Abu-Ghazaleh Knowledge Forum hosted a meeting for the Early Grade Reading and Math Project (RAMP) Initiative which aims to improve reading and math skills for students in preschool through third grade. 

The meeting which was held with the participation of coordinators of social joint programs at the Ministry of Education and principals of related directorates of the northern, central and south of the Kingdom presented the achievements of the first group of directorates in implementing the activities of the social plan to encourage participation and provide information for the second group on the mechanism of implementation of programs.  

Participants were briefed on the reading program which encourages targeted students to read at home.

Organizers of the initiative seek to change the behavior of parents and students regarding improving their reading and math skills, by spreading awareness on the importance of their participation in community involvement programs which will reflect on their children's achievement in reading and math. 

Her Majesty Queen Rania Al Abdallah officially launched the Early Grade Reading and Math Project (RAMP) April 2015 that is designed to improve the reading and math skills of children in Jordan in grades KG1- grade 3 through developing and strengthening their skills. The initiative’s main objective is by 2019; around 55 percent of early graders in public school will be able to master the two skills.

Mr. Loay Abu Osbeh, executive director of the Forum said that hosting such an event comes as part of the strong belief of HE Dr. Talal Abu-Ghazaleh that education needs development and such initiatives are for the benefit of students and their families pointing out that adopting such initiatives comes as part of the Forum's objectives. 
The initiative was launched by the Ministry of Education in cooperation with the USAID and UKAID.
