Abu-Ghazaleh and Airport Services Cooperate in Introducing TAG TAX Free Service

AMMAN-HE Dr. Talal Abu-Ghazaleh, chairman of Talal Abu-Ghazaleh Organization (TAG-Org) met with Head of Airport Services at Amman Queen Alia International Airport, Mr. Awni Shloul to discuss ways of cooperation in various fields.

The two parties agreed to implement an awareness campaign for the Talal Abu-Ghazaleh TAX Free project, part of Talal Abu-Ghazaleh and Co. International, through the distribution of brochures onboard the Royal Jordanian aircrafts in order to introduce this service to visitors of the Kingdom.

The publications include information about the project, required procedures and the approved network of traders.
The main objective of TAG Tax Free Service is to refund the tax on any purchase by visitors during their stay in Jordan and it works through two paths simultaneously: visitors and nonresidents can refund the amount of tax when leaving Jordan on condition that they stayed outside the Kingdom for more than 183 days during the last 12 months of the date of leaving the Kingdom.

The other path concerns the network of traders who represent various sectors where approved trader is giving the right to fill the personal tax refund application of the buyer (visitor or nonresident) through a set of steps including filling data and description clearly on the invoice and tax refund form, confirming that payment has been concluded and presenting buyer with the information brochure. Traders will also have to inform the buyer that tax refund is linked to the exit of purchased items outside Jordan and receiving the approval of Jordan Customs and informing buyer that he is entitled for a tax refund if his total paid tax is above JD50 from the approved network of shops and that the form should be completely filled within 90 days of the date of purchase.
