The Economic and Social Council Hosts Talal Abu-Ghazaleh in the seminar: "Towards a Knowledge-Based Jordanian Society that Aims at Achieving a National Product of 200 Billion Dollars in 2040"

 

Amman – The Jordan Economic and Social Council held a seminar entitled "Towards a Knowledge-Based Jordanian Society that Aims at Achieving a National Product of 200 Billion Dollar", in which HE Senator Talal Abu-Ghazaleh gave a speech.

At the outset of the seminar, Dr. Munzer Al-Share', the President of the Council, welcomed the honored guests, and presented an overview of the importance of the partnership between the Council and Talal Abu-Ghazaleh Knowledge Forum (TAG-KS).Subsequently, he stressed the significance of the topic of the seminar especially as regards the lower growth rates achieved in recent years.

HE Dr. Talal Abu-Gahazaleh reviewed TAG-KS's action program that aims to achieve the transformation of Jordan into a knowledge-based society that achieves a national product of 200 billion dollars in 2040.

He explained that TAG-KS forms its policies through teams of experts and those concerned and interested in the fields of knowledge-based education, knowledge-based infrastructure, knowledge-based economics, knowledge-based government, and knowledge-based social justice He added that local, regional, and international studies suggest that national challenges can only be confronted with this type of transformation, and that without it, we would keep on addressing our economic, social, educational, and other problems, but we would never find medium and long term solutions.

He noted that TAG-KS is a non-for-profit organization, funded by the Talal Abu-Ghazaleh Foundation, which represents a model of community service where Jordanian citizens volunteer their time and efforts to serve this beloved country under the Hashemite leadership which we are loyal to and proud of. 

On the sidelines of the seminar, TAG-KS of TAG-Org and the Economic and Social Council signed a MoU under which the Council will benefit from the services provided by TAG-KS, will be provided with proposals of projects and initiatives that serve the royal vision and the government directives in the economic, social, and development fields, will be provided with studies which focus on those vital fields, and will be benefit from TAG-KS's sub-committees. Under the MoU, the two parties will also cooperate in holding seminars and conferences at TAG-KS headquarter.   The MoU was signed on behalf of the two parties by HE Dr. Munzer Al-share', and HE Senator Dr. Talal Abu-Ghazaleh.

The Economic and Social Council is an advisory institution representing the various groups of the society. It aims at promoting positive dialogue, and building consensus among partners about economic and social issues, policies, and decisions. The Council assesses the social impact of public policies, controls the negative impacts of those policies, and proposes alternatives in order to achieve socio-economic development, in 
furtherance of participation in policy and decision-making in the above mentioned fields. 

TAG-KS is a non-for-profit experience organization funded by TAG-Foundation. It aims at preparing proposals for decisions-makers on all economic policies for the transformation of Jordan into a knowledge-based society aiming at achieving a national product of 200 billion Dollars by 2040.
