During the Third Teachers' Curriculum Forum in the UAE Abu-Ghazaleh Highlights the Importance of Introducing AI Concepts in Education for A Genuine Renaissance
ABU DHABI - The Third Teachers' Curriculum Forum at Emirates National Schools in Abu Dhabi entitled ‘Molihemoon’ was launched in the presence of HE Dr. Talal Abu-Ghazaleh, founder and chairman of Talal Abu-Ghazaleh Global (TAG.Global), HE Mr. Hussain bin Ibrahim Al Hammadi, the UAE Minister of Education and HE Mr. Zaki Anwar Nusseibeh, Minister of State in the UAE government.
The Forum, held under the theme ‘Molihmoon’ (Influencers/Inspirers), targeted 23,000 teachers with the participation of a host of officials and education leaders.
In his keynote speech at the gathering, Dr. Abu-Ghazaleh stressed the importance of introducing concepts of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in education at the Arab-level to create a real renaissance based on innovation. He emphasized the significance of providing a digital educational system that facilitates access to a knowledge-based society in accordance with the governing rules that ensure students’ creativity, excellence and knowledge production.
“We need an inspiring and innovative teacher. Traditional methods in education became ineffective in light of the rapid scientific and technological advancements in the world,” Dr. Abu-Ghazaleh said, pointing out that the new technologies made information available for all and is no longer restricted to anyone.
Meanwhile, Dr. Abu-Ghazaleh highlighted the importance of transforming universities and schools into innovation incubators, saying that studies indicate that AI technologies will teach people without the need for memorization, something that necessitates reconsidering teachers’ tools and their ability to compete.
Dr. Abu-Ghazaleh underlined the importance of quality education to be provided to all students taking into consideration their different capacities and ages noting that they currently constitute 20% of society, therefore, they have to be empowered with the necessary means to cope with the AI revolution.
Additionally, Dr. Abu-Ghazaleh said that the future role of education ministries will become pure regulator due to the huge quantity of knowledge available to students through modern technological means. He also called for appropriate methods that motivate critical thinking and ignite passion for knowledge.
The Forum, held in Al Dhafra, Al Ain, Ajman Teacher Training Institute and in Sharjah, included 1290 specialized training course with the aim of developing and improving teachers’ performance and enhancing their skills to keep abreast of the country’s education agenda and the vision which reflects positively on the outputs of education.
It I worth mentioning that the Forum seeks to brief the participants on the best international practices in teaching, activating the use of modern means and strategies of education, and the best class practices that take into account the characteristics of learners by using AI applications and Action Research to improve education.
