Abu-Ghazaleh Takes Part in the Integrity and Anti-Corruption Commission’s Virtual Ceremony

AMMAN – HE Dr. Talal Abu-Ghazaleh, founder and chairman of Talal Abu-Ghazaleh Global (TAG.Global), took part in a virtual ceremony organized by the Jordan Integrity and Anti-Corruption Commission (JIACC). The ceremony was held under the patronage of Prime Minister,  Bisher Al-Khasawneh, to launch the "The 2020-2025 National Integrity and Anti-Corruption Strategy," with the participation of representatives of a number of countries and international organizations.

During the ceremony, Al-Khasawneh launched the updated JIACC strategy, which is based on the 2017 original strategy, but it took into account all local and international changes, developments and requirements for continuously improving the performance of the Commission.

Furthermore, Al Khasawneh stressed the importance of combating corruption and curbing its spread, pointing out that Jordan has been aware of the dangers of corruption decades and for that reason it created the  Audit Bureau as early as 1952.

For his part, Mr. Muhannad Hijazi, JIACC Chairman, said that the Commission draws its strength and determination from the continuous support of HM King Abdullah II Ibn Al-Hussein to all Jordanian governments and apparatus, noting that combating all forms of corruption is a top priority since there is a serious political will to proceed on this path.

For his part, Dr. Abu-Ghazaleh said that: ‘No rule of law, nor good governance and confidence in society could exist under the scourge of corruption, pointing out that the fight against corruption is the responsibility of every individual which will positively impact the society.

He also praised the Commission’s efforts and objectives in Jordan to promote integrity and to fight corruption.

Moreover, Dr. Abu-Ghazaleh affirmed the importance of developing the concept of proactivity and prevention of corruption and putting it into practice by promoting and spreading the culture of integrity, strengthening financial and administrative controls and regulations in the public and private sectors, not to mention, the importance of reducing human and paper transactions by activating digital systems and electronic programs.

JIACC has previously signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Talal Abu-Ghazaleh Knowledge Forum (TAG-KF) to enhance joint cooperation between the two parties by the optimal investment of their efforts, capabilities and resources to become a model in enhancing the national role of private sector in fighting corruption.

In addition, TAG.Global contributed to supporting the efforts of the Commission in issuing its 2019 Annual Report and the updated National Integrity and Anti-Corruption Strategy through designing, translating and printing the strategy in Arabic and English.
