Abu-Ghazaleh Inaugurates the CSU 2022 Gala Awards Ceremony in New York

AMMAN – As Board of Directors Chairman of the New York-based Consortium for Sustainable Urbanization (CSU) since its establishment in 2009, HE Dr. Talal Abu-Ghazaleh received an invitation to inaugurate the CSU 2022 Gala Awards Ceremony which will be held at the prestigious Century Association in New York on March 16, 2022.

The Executive Director of the United Nations Human Settlements Program (UN-Habitat), Dr. Maimunah Sharif, will deliver the keynote address at the ceremony, while CSU President and Former President of the American Institute of Architects (FAIA) in New York, Prof. Lance Jay Brown, will offer opening remarks. 

The CSU Awards Ceremony is the annual flagship event for the global organization that is headquartered in New York, and it includes professionals, academics, and practitioners in the fields of architecture, design and urban planning, dedicated to promote sustainable urbanization worldwide. 

The CSU works closely with the United Nations and the United Nations Human Settlements Program (UN-Habitat) to enhance a better understanding of the comprehensive cross-sectoral approach and flexible urban design and planning, through high-level policy dialogues as well as sharing best practices and innovations at key online conferences, events and seminars within the framework of the the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 11, that is relevant to promoting sustainable urban development. 

During the CSU 2022 Awards ceremony, a host of dignitaries, professionals and executive directors from around the world will be honored for their outstanding contributions in making cities more sustainable, more inclusive and more resilient thanks to their impact and their  lasting fingerprints on architecture, design and urban planning.  

It is worth mentioning that the award-winning Cameroonian-American novelist and short-story writer, Prof. Imbolo Mbue, is among the honorees and will receive the Sustainability Award. Dr. Judith Rodin, president of the Rockefeller Foundation, will be honored with the President's Award.  Dr. Anna Tibaijuka,  former executive director of the UN‐Habitat, will be given ‘The Global Award’ and Dr. Thomas Fournier, former president of the International Union of Architects will receive the Champion Award.
