‘Abu-Ghazaleh Knowledge Forum’ Organizes “Jordan Free of Drugs” Awareness Workshop

AMMAN - Talal Abu-Ghazaleh Knowledge Forum (TAG-KF), a member of Talal Abu-Ghazaleh Global (TAG.Global), in cooperation with the National Youth Conference, the National Forum for Awareness and Development (NFAD), and the Public Security Directorate, has organized an awareness workshop entitled “Jordan Free of Drugs.”

The workshop was held as part of the “Jordan Free of Drugs” initiative, inspired by the keenness of the organizers to continuously raise awareness among the youth on the danger of narcotics. A large number of university students, community members, and representatives of concerned institutions attended the event, with the participation of anti-narcotics experts and physiologists.

Ms. Lamees Al-Jbour, team leader of the "Jordan Free of Drugs" initiative, offered a presentation on the initiative’s core mission, in addition to the workshops and activities organized by the team. She pointed out that such an initiative was launched by the National Youth Conference in August 2022, to contribute to raising awareness among the youth concerning drugs and the drug abuse risks whether  trafficking, or dealing; from psychological, health, social, material and legal aspects.

For his part, Dr. Mohamad Al-Bdour, chairman of NFAD and the secretary-general of the National Youth Conference, highlighted the important role the youth play in the fight against drugs that has become a national concern threatening social and national fabric. He expressed his thanks to HE Dr. Talal Abu-Ghazaleh, TAG.Global, founder and chairman, for hosting these important awareness workshops directed to the youth.

On behalf of the Anti-Narcotics Department, Captain Ammar Al-Rawajeih stressed that combating this dilemma is a shared responsibility between the Department, the relevant authorities and citizens, especially the young people. He went on to review the Department’s outstanding successes in promoting public awareness, controlling the problem, and treating it.

During the workshop sessions, Dr. Jalal Kayed, Professor of Criminal Law at the Hashemite University, talked about the controls set by the Jordanian legislator to reduce drug related crimes, while Mr.  Ghassan Abdul Salam, representative of the Ghassan Legal Group, addressed the penalties prescribed in accordance with the legislation in the provisions of the Anti-Narcotics Law. Meanwhile, Dr. Ola Ghazi Abbasi, Professor of Public International Law at the World Islamic Sciences and Education University, talked about the various aspects of the drug abuse and trafficking internationally.

For his part, Mr. Bader Foqaha, TAG-KF manager, affirmed the Forum's readiness for continuous collaboration to spread knowledge and awareness; this is in accordance with the directives and visions of Dr. Abu-Ghazaleh, who always advocates the need to promote awareness among community members and protect the safety and wellbeing of the youth against all dangers.
