Lebanon Honors Talal Abu-Ghazaleh by Naming Al-Ghazieh Public School After Him

BEIRUT – Lebanon's Minister of Education and Higher Education, HE Dr. Abbas Al Halabi, has decided to name the Al Ghazieh Public School in South Lebanon after  Dr. Talal Abu-Ghazaleh, founder and chairman of Talal Abu-Ghazaleh Global (TAG.Global) as a gesture of recognition of Dr. Abu-Ghazaleh's extensive and ongoing journey in the field of digital learning and innovation, as well as his tireless efforts in implementing the digital transformation strategy in Lebanon in order to restore Lebanon's standing in the Arab World as a beacon of science, knowledge, and development.

Accordingly, the Al Ghazieh Municipal Council has issued a decision approving the Minister's proposal and endorsing the designation of the Ghazieh Public School as ‘Dr. Talal Abu-Ghazaleh Innovation School’ to serve as the focal point of digital transformation and innovation process in public schools of Lebanon.

It is worth mentioning that the selection of Al Ghazieh Public School was made precisely due to its special place in  Dr. Abu-Ghazaleh’s life; as he had  arrived as a 10-year-old child with his family, seeking refuge after being displaced from their homeland by the Zionist occupation of Palestine, and lived and learned there, in Al Ghazieh, until he graduated from the American University of Beirut.

Commenting on this decision Dr. Abu Ghazaleh expressed his appreciation for this great honor stressing that everything he contributes to Lebanon is not a favor or a donation, but rather is a national duty towards his second home and its kind and hospitable people."

He said: "This is not just an honor, but a decoration and an award that drive and motivate me to do more towards the development of educational process in Lebanon, and to overcome all challenges in order to provide technological tools and digital education programs to all students in all Lebanese regions."
