On His First Visit to the Arab Region Abu-Ghazaleh Welcomes the President of the International Federation of Accountants (IFAC) – New York

AMMAN – His Excellency Dr. Talal Abu-Ghazaleh, chairman and founder of the International Arab Society of Certified Accountants (IASCA), looks forward  to welcoming the visit of  Mr. Jean Bouquot, President of the International Federation of Accountants (IFAC), who will be hosted by IASCA on a three-day official visit.

The visit will feature a series of high-level meetings and activities focused on shaping the future of the accounting profession and advancing professional education worldwide, bringing together leading Arab professional associations and key regulatory authorities of the profession.

IASCA will also arrange visits for the IFAC President to the Jordan Audit Bureau for a meeting with the Jordanian Professional Regulation Council, as well as to a number of Jordanian universities to assess the level of accounting education offered across academic institutions.

In this context, His Excellency Dr. Talal Abu-Ghazaleh emphasized the significance of this landmark visit — the first by Mr. Bouquot to the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan. Previously, Dr. In-Ki Joo of the Republic of Korea, has visited Jordan in 2017 during his term as IFAC Deputy President. He stressed the importance of leveraging this opportunity to address the challenges facing the future of the profession, while also advocating for stronger Arab representation on IFAC’s Board of Directors and its various committees.

It is worth noting that His Excellency Dr. Talal Abu-Ghazaleh was a member of the IFAC’s Council in 1992 and was a Member of the IFAC International Auditing Practices Committee, now the independently operating International Auditing and Assurance Standards Board. Additionally, “Talal Abu-Ghazaleh & Co. International" is the only Arab-headquartered Network from the region to be a member of the Forum of Firms.

IFAC is the global membership organization for the accountancy profession with a membership of over 187 professional accountancy organizations (PAOs) in more than 142 jurisdictions. IFAC represents millions of professional accountants across the globe.

In 1984, in the city of London, UK, IASCA was established as a non-profit, professional, accounting body. IASCA was formally established in Amman on February 24, 1994, with the goal of promoting the progression of accounting, auditing, and affiliated fields in Arab League member countries. Additionally, its objectives include safeguarding professional independence, advocating for the protection of accountants, and enforcing standards of professional oversight.
